What is job alternation leave?

During job alternation leave, a person in permanent employment with a sufficiently long work history can take a fixed-term leave of absence for up to six months. No salary is paid during the leave; instead, the employee receives a job alternation allowance amounting to 70% of the earnings-related daily allowance they would be entitled to if unemployed. The employer is required to hire an unemployed person as a substitute for the duration of the leave.
