News

30.5.2022

The Transport Workers’ Unemployment Fund will merge with the Open Unemployment Fund A-kassa at the beginning of next year. The decision to merge was approved at the meeting of the Open Unemployment Fund today, 30 May 2022. The Transport Workers’ Unemployment Fund already made a positive decision earlier, on 18 May 2022.

The Transport Workers’ Unemployment Fund is due to merge with the A-kassa from 1 of January 2023. With more than 190 000 members, A-kassa is one of the largest unemployment funds in Finland, and with the merger of the Transport Workers’ Unemployment Fund, approximately 36 000 members will join A-kassa.

The merger of the funds does not require any action from members of the Transport Workers’ Unemployment Fund at this stage, as current membership of the unemployment fund will automatically be transferred to the A-kassa from the beginning of next year. If any measures are required, we will inform you in advance towards the end of the year. It is, however, recommended to follow our bulletins. Existing members of the A-kassa will not be affected by the change.

A-kassa is a general and a multidisciplinary unemployment fund, which is open to all employees. A-kassa pays out earnings-related unemployment benefits to its members.
