A-kassa received more applications for earnings-related unemployment allowances than in the previous month. A-kassa monitors the unemployment status of its members monthly.
The Open Unemployment Fund received a total of 18,314 applications for earnings-related allowances in October, which is approximately 2,700 more than in September (15, 607 applications). The number is lower than it was one year ago: A-kassa received 19,859 applications in October 2021.
In October, the fund paid earnings-related allowances to 13,346 members, representing 6.8 per cent of all the members of A-kassa. The number of people receiving earnings-related allowances decreased by 2,847, which is 17,6 per cent fewer than in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The number of recipients on temporary lay-offs was 2,231, which is 16.7 per cent of all the recipients of earnings-related allowances. Adjusted daily allowances were paid to 2, 531 members in October, which was 19.0 per cent of all the recipients of earnings-related allowances.
In October, the average duration of unemployment was 19.6 days, which is 0.2 days less than in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The comparison figures for 2021 are the combined figures of the Unemployment Fund Finka, the Unemployment Fund of the Construction Sector, and the Unemployment Fund of Finnish Industrial Workers.
