Properly filled out application speeds up your application process

A-kassa aims to process applications efficiently and pay out your benefits as quickly as possible. When you fill out your application carefully and make sure to add all required attachments, your application is processed swiftly. Here are some tips to make your application process as smooth as possible:

1. Fill out your application carefully

The eService system helps you in filling out the application. As you are filling it out, you can find more information with the Info buttons (a circled letter “i”) which help ensure that your application includes all required information.

Always apply for daily allowance for an application period, not for a single day or days. When filling out the application, include all your unemployment or lay-off days as well as working days within the application period. This ensures that your application is processed correctly and quickly.

First-time applicants:

When you become unemployed, you can fill out your first application after two calendar weeks. The last day included in the application should be a Sunday. The first week included in the application does not need to be a full week.

Follow-up application:

After the first application, the application period is always either four calendar weeks (Mon to Sun) or a calendar month.

2. Provide all required attachments

As you fill out the application, eService assists you in providing the necessary attachments. When you submit all attachments in one go, your application is processed more quickly.

Mandatory:

  • At the end of employment: Submit your notice of termination or a copy of your certificate of employment.
  • If laid off: Submit your layoff notice.

Where necessary:

  • Salary certificate: If we are unable to retrieve the necessary information directly from the incomes register.
  • Social benefits: If you are the recipient of a social benefit which affects the daily allowance, submit your benefit decision. If your benefit payment has changed since the decision, update the information. If your social benefit has been granted by Kela, you only need to declare that you receive the benefit.
  • Personal tax decision: If you have a business, please provide us with a personal tax decision on the most recently confirmed taxation.
  • Tax card: The Tax Administration provides your salary tax card information to us directly. If necessary, you can request a revised tax card for the benefit to have your withholding rate adjusted accordingly.

We will contact you if we need more information.

All attachments submitted by you to the fund are available on a specific tab in the eService. Click on the arrow next to each attachment to see what they look like.

3. Track your application’s progress in the eService

You can go to the eService to check your application’s processing status and ensure that you have provided all required attachments. You can also see the attachments you have submitted on the designated tab.

4. Use the convenient eService

eService is secure, quick and always available. You can log in to the service with your banking credentials or a mobile certificate. The eService can also be used to send messages and additional information. The fund receives all applications, attachments and messages submitted via the eService immediately. You do not have to worry about delays in mail delivery or phone service queues. You can use the service when it best suits you.
